Dr. Ann Marlow Riedling to Serve as Senior Fullbright Specialist in Bahrain

 Ann Marlow RiedlingDr. Ann Marlow Riedling, San José State University School of Information lecturer who teaches INFO 204 and INFO 250, has been selected for a Fulbright Senior Specialists project in Bahrain at the University of Bahrain from November 1 – December 5, 2008, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. See press release.

Dr. Riedling will provide professional development training for the librarians at the University of Bahrain, covering information literacy and support for e-learning. Having served two previous year-long Fulbrights in Bahrain, Egypt and Yemen and in Oman, she is familiar with the culture and how libraries are run in the Middle East. Riedling states, “I will be working on developing an online LIS program for the country, which excites me no end!”

Riedling is one of over 400 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad this year through the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program. The program, created in 2000 to complement the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, provides short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks) to prominent U.S. faculty and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at post secondary, academic institutions around the world.
