iSchool Faculty and Alumni Recieve “I Love My Librarian” Awards

Amy J. Cheney and Jean Amaral, San José State University School of Information alumni, and iSchool faculty Dr. Margaret L. Lincoln receive “I Love My Librarian” awards

Congratulations to Amy J. Cheney and Jean Amaral, iSchool alumni, and to Dr. Margaret L. Lincoln, iSchool part-time faculty!

Amaral, Cheney, and Lincoln are among 10 librarians receiving “I Love My Librarian!” awards from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the New York Times on December 8. More than 3,200 library users nationwide nominated a librarian for this award, given for librarians’ commitment and service to their communities, schools, and campuses. See www.ilovelibraries.org/.

Congratulations also to iSchool part-time faculty Meredith G. Farkas, recipient of a Web-based Information Science Education (WISE) Faculty of the Year Award for Excellence in Online Education in 2008!

This award is given to faculty nominated by WISE students from institutions other than the faculty member’s home institution. Students in the course Web 2.0 and Social Networking Tools who do not attend San José State University nominated Ms. Farkas for this award. Ms. Farkas is one of seven winners of the WISE Faculty of the Year for 2008. WISE Education.

Margaret LincolnDr. Margaret “Gigi” Lincoln, one of our part-time faculty members, is a winner in the “Carnegie Corporation of New York / New York Times I Love My Librarian Award”. Lincoln is a full-time as a library media specialist at Lakeview High School, Battle Creek, MI. She teaches INFO 233, School Library Media Centers, for iSchool.
