The San José State University School of Library and Information Science proudly nominates the Library 2.011 Worldwide Virtual Conference in the category of Best Open PD/unconference/webinar series for the 2011 Edublog Awards.

The Library 2.011 conference was the first of its kind, providing a free, online forum for information professionals to join the global conversation about the changing roles of libraries and librarians in our digital world.

There were six pertinent subject strands addressing the library and information science field. The call for presentations was open to everyone, and keynote presentations were made by speakers representing numerous countries including Denmark, Australia, the United States, South Africa, and Canada.

The conference was held around the clock on November 2-4, 2011. Altogether, 6,800 people from 153 countries in 36 time zones signed up to participate in 160 fully-online presentations. All presentations were recorded for future viewing and can be accessed on the Library 2.0 website.
