Five new students will be starting the MLIS program this fall with a $1,000 credit after being awarded the Director's Scholarship for Excellence. Their winning Pinterest applications demonstrated creativity in information organization and story telling.

MLIS students Mary Block and Amy Moskovitz recently visited Guatemala for a service trip with the organization Librarians Without Borders. The students cataloged books for the school's library collection and developed programs to promote literacy.

The SJSU School of Information awards several scholarships every year to students enrolled in the MLIS and MARA degree programs. Most recently, 17 outstanding students earned scholarships worth a total of $20,000.
