Course Development and Instructional Design #7

7 Student-centered instruction is considered during the course development process.

Deficient      Developing      Accomplished     Exemplary

All new faculty members complete the Teaching Online course before they begin developing their courses and teaching for the School. In the course, they learn the importance of student-centered instruction and how to apply it in their own course sites and teaching. The course includes material on the student perspective and  results student surveys on course satisfaction. Effective methods for conducting discussions and the importance of identifying discussion questions that prompt meaningful responses are also included.

Student centered instruction is also addressed in some of the T3 (Teaching Tips and Techniques) workshops held online throughout the year for faculty.
