Debbie Bahn joined Washington State Archives in 2008 as the Digital Archives’ first electronic records archivist. She earned a Master’s in Public History from CSU Sacramento, and spent three years in San Jose State University’s MLIS and MARA programs (first cohort), learning all aspects of archives and records management, with an emphasis on electronic records. She is an adjunct instructor at Eastern Washington University, where she teaches the Digital Archives graduate seminar.

As one of many current preservation models, Washington State Archives’ digital repository is unique for its size, its scope, and for being fully developed in-house. Debbie Bahn, Electronic Records Archivist, presents an overview of the state’s Digital Archives, including its evolution; preservation architecture and workflows; the biggest preservation challenges; the multi-disciplinary team; and keeping up in a constantly changing work environment.
