Post

Individuals from across the globe participated in the Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference, a free event showcasing more than 150 fully online presentations given by scholars and information professionals worldwide.  The San José State University School of Information is a founding partner of the conference.

In her opening keynote presentation, titled “How to be a Catalyst for Change: Redefining the Library 2.0 Information Professional,” SJSU iSchool director Dr. Sandra Hirsh explored how the library and information science profession is continuing to evolve and how information professionals can address outdated perceptions. Read more about her presentation and access a link to the recording.

Additionally, SJSU iSchool faculty members presented at the Library 2.012 conference, helping lead the conversation about the future of libraries. Their presentations covered a gamut of topics, such as the impact of emerging technologies on libraries, the multiple roles libraries can play in responding to a disaster, library leadership issues, and job trends for distance librarians.

Joining the global conversation, several SJSU iSchool students also presented at the conference. Others volunteered as session moderators, using their technical skills to ensure that sessions ran smoothly. Read a blog post highlighting the involvement of several iSchool students who presented at the conference.
