Course Overview

This is the first time a booktalking class has been taught in an online format, and I'm excited about the opportunity to try out new things! You will have the chance to learn how to do traditional booktalking for all ages, create digital booktalks, create book trailers using live action, still images, soundtracks, voiceovers, and text, and discover a variety of ways to use these different booktalking formats to promote reading to your library customers in f2f and online settings.

Please note: a webcam and a USB headset with an attached mike are required for this course. You will be submitting videos of your booktalks and book trailers, and will be watching and critiquing those of your colleagues. This is your chance to learn a new skill that will be a valuable asset to you throughout your career, whether you work as a public or school librarian, with customer populations as young as eight or ten and as old as senior citizens.
