INFO 203 Online Learning

Post

All new students are required to take INFO 203 Online Learning Tools and Strategies for Success, a 1 unit CR/NC course.

This course introduces students to a variety of new and emerging technologies used in today’s online environment. It includes various social networking platforms, content and learning management tools, cybersecurity issues, web conferencing, and strategies for success in the online learning environment.

New students must complete this required course within the first four weeks of the first semester.

Any student who does not complete the class in the first semester will be placed on administrative academic probation. After a discussion with the Graduate Coordinator, a student may be allowed to retake INFO 203 if the student has performed well in a first attempt  (B or above) in INFO 200 (the graduate writing class). If the INFO 203 class is not passed on the second attempt, the student will be disqualified from the University.

A hold will be placed on the student’s ability to register for other classes until INFO 203 has been successfully passed.

INFO 203 Peer Mentors

The peer mentoring project offers experienced MLIS students an opportunity to earn special credit by working with new students in INFO 203. Applications to be a peer mentor are accepted twice a year (usually late April and late October) and announced via iSchool alerts. Read more about the Peer Mentor project here
