ICA Celebrates Fifth Anniversary of Universal Declaration on Archives

On November 10th, 2011, the International Council on Archives initiated the Universal Declaration of Archives. Five years later, supporters are invited to ratify the document.

 

Archivists and records managers are key actors in the preservation of governance, human rights, and identity. The International Council on Archives (ICA), founded in 1948, has worked to “promote the preservation and use of archives around the world.” On November 10, 2011, ICA submitted the Universal Declaration on Archives, a document that articulates the characteristics and management requirements of archives. To celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Archives, supporters can register their support on ICA.org.
