What I am doing now.
In my full-time employment as a Library Technician with Washington Unified School District I perform a variety of library services. Some of my responsibilities include the planning, direction, implementation, and evaluation of the school library media center.
What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?
Thanks to the Teacher Librarian Program with the School of Library and Information Science at San Jose State University, I was able to follow the guidelines set for that program and take courses that have enabled me to develop and strengthen my skills and knowledge in the library, the classroom, and in the community.
Many of the courses I have taken enhanced and helped me:
- to develop my collaboration with my teachers, administrators, and parents through the use of Google Apps and Social Media Tools/Networks
- to implement technology in the library by developing digital booktalks and utilizing Quick Response (QR) Codes, green screen, GoogleLit Trips, and Google Earth,
- to become a program administrator overseeing not just our school library, but our district/school-wide reading program, the various reading incentive programs throughout the school year, and the maintenance of our school and library website.
