Online Student Advisor

As the Online Student Advisor, Sheila Gurtu supports the Associate Director to coordinate graduate advising and develops student success resources for the iSchool. She maintains the Canvas advising sites for MLIS and Certificate students, manages Open Classes, MARA and Certificate enrollment services and also implements outreach, retention and survey analysis for the School. She is available to help all students by email and telephone.

Biographical Sketch

In 2010 Sheila joined the Circle of Learning grant staff, providing support with student services, accounting, communications, project marketing and dissemination, data collection, reporting, and conference planning. Sheila is an iSchool alumna and enjoyed working as a teacher librarian in elementary and junior high schools in San Jose for many years. She had also been a volunteer cataloger for a local history archives.
