Financial Aid

Important Information About Financial Aid

See information about applying for financial aid here: SJSU Financial Aid & Scholarship Office

The SJSU Financial Aid Office phone number is (408) 283-7500 (Press #4).

Applicants can try to get a financial aid application on file while applying to the SJSU iSchool. The Financial Aid Office will not make any financial awards or disbursements until an applicant has:

  • Been admitted to the iSchool
  • Enrolled for classes

The amount awarded depends on the number of units a student takes each semester. Students need to enroll in at least 4 units (200 level courses*) each semester in order to maintain eligibility for financial aid. *SJSU 100 level World Languages classes (SPAN 132-10 or SPAN 132-11) are excluded from this rule as these classes apply towards the MLIS degree.

In order for financial aid to be available in your first semester, you must complete your financial aid application 3-4 months before the semester begins. Plan ahead to avoid classes being dropped for lack of payment.

If you are a Special Session student and have applied for financial aid, you may contact Carol Garcia. Email: Carol Garcia. Phone: 408-924-6081.

For aid in purchasing a laptop, the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office will participate in assisting eligible students with the funding for required wireless laptop purchases. If you are a matriculated and enrolled student with a financial aid award, you may increase your loan to help purchase a laptop, but be aware that it is a loan, not a grant. If you are eligible and want to participate, contact the , student services teamat the SJSU iSchool. See the bottom of this page for more information: sjsu.edu/faso/Applying/Cost_of_Attendance/
