Achieve the Height of Fashion and School Spirit with the iSchool Swag Store
Published: July 13, 2016
This summer season is an explosion of information logos for the awesome-est, most fun graduate school program in library and information science ever!
The SJSU iSchool swag store is the best place to go to get SJSU School of Information accessories for your busy student and professional lifestyle. Not only will you be one of the smartest and coolest looking students, alumni or staff this summer, but these iSchool accessories transition seamlessly into the fall.
The iSchool Swag Store was created by a coalition of students whom Director Dr. Sandra Hirsh invited to be a part of this really fun and fundraising project. All the proceeds from Swag Store purchases go towards funding student scholarships. So you can be fashionable and fund iSchool education all at the same time!
If you need a beach bag to carry all your beach necessities this summer, then be sure to snag a large size SJSU School of Information tote bag for sunscreen, towel and your latest summer read. Want to dress up your computer and make your work space a little less drab? Then your best choice for bling is the iSchool laptop sleeve in gray and gold. Perhaps you’d like to show your spirit by flashing your favorite school’s logo on drinkware accessories. The iSchool Swag store has both hot beverage options and stunning choices for cool drinks. Need it on the go? Nothing shows SJSU iSchool spirit like the 18oz. stainless steel water bottle in Spartan blue.
Here’s a taste of what information professionals in your community are sporting right now, showing where their allegiances lie, and even where they got their degrees. Dr. Virginia Tucker, the iSchool’s newly appointed Assistant Professor Information Systems and Knowledge Structures, is happy about the iSchool’s blue t-shirt, a beautiful color and high-quality organic cotton, perfect for working in her home office in Bellingham, Washington.
Community Profile writer and recent alumna Alison Peters isn’t necessarily a runner, but enjoys taking her dog Sweetie Pie for long walks in the Northern California hills while wearing the iSchool running shirt in heather gray. “And I love the wooden bookmark,” says Peters, “which I absolutely do not need, but it’s so cute!”
Beth Wrenn-Estes, full-time lecturer at the iSchool and resident of northern California’s East Bay, likes to sit on the back patio with her dog Scout at her side reading for her Info 265 Young Adult Materials class. She keeps away the evening chill by curling up in her snuggly warm SJSU iSchool sweatshirt.
SJSU iSchool alumna and Stanford Library “Late Shift Babe” Jessie Spragge loves the white logo drawstring backpack. It’s perfect for toting around her running clothes— and showing a little iSchool pride!— as she rushes back and forth between several full- and part-time jobs, and maintains her position as favorite aunt through frequent babysitting. Life might be crazy, but keeping her running clothes close at hand means she always has a way to decompress!
While running between home, work and his internship at the Pleasant Hill Community Public Library in Contra Costa County, California, current iSchool student and digital storytime presenter Tom Schween (pictured here with children’s librarian Ms. Stone) protects his iPad (and his program repertoire of picture ebooks and apps) with the gold and gray iPad sleeve.
“Sometimes you just need a pencil,” says Laurie Putnam, iSchool lecturer and wiki creator. “Have you seen those studies that show you learn more when you stash your keyboard and take notes by hand?” She swears by the blue and gray iSchool pencil. She’s especially fond of the built-in eraser — the original Undo button — which makes all her mistakes disappear. I should be so lucky in life.
Even in summer, current MLIS student, CASA-SAC representative and VCARA member Alyse Dunavant-Jones finds excuses to wear her gold & gray iSchool logo sweatshirt–especially when navigating the windy banks of San Francisco on weekend trips (shown here this past June in Emeryville, California). In her free time, she also designs SJSU iSchool-inspired swag in Second Life so her avatar can stay just as trendy. In Dunavant-Jones’ experience, the sweatshirts do “run a smidge small. I recommend purchasing a size larger than usual for anyone who likes them baggy or plans to wear them over something else.” Dunavant-Jones is taking it easy this summer and is not enrolled in any iSchool classes. However, she and her husband will be taking a summer course in Japanese. “That will be fun,” <smiley face>.
And myself? Well, I just need to keep caffeinated. I’m a huge fan of the black logo travel mug in which I take my morning coffee with me while I schlep the kids to school and then head to the local library (where else?) to write the next catchy blog or do some research for my Info 269 Early Childhood Literacy course.
So whether it’s bling for your tech, snuggles for your evening reads or comfy cotton for work and play, the SJSU iSchool Swag Store has got the stuff to keep you looking smart and fabulous all year long!
