9th Annual VCARA Conference - Passion for Truth - Trusting Information in the Fake News Era - Submit your proposal for Mini Presentations by March 31, 2018 to Dr. Pat Franks at: patricia.franks@sjsu.edu - Location: vcara sjsu/ischool island SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SJSU%20SLIS/45/123/33

Today’s information climate is steeped in controversy. Once-trusted information sources are suspect as citizens and consumers consider media, businesses, and governments in new lights. Additionally, Internet “trolls”, hackers, identity thieves, and other fraudulent individuals and groups intentionally spread false information under increasingly cunning guises.
Archivists, businesses, educators, and information professionals are tasked with researching this crisis, exposing issues, finding solutions, and teaching users how to determine trustworthy information.

This Spring, VCARA asks…
Are you passionate about truth?
Share your projects, research, solutions, observances, lessons, and other ideas relating to trust and information both within and outside of virtual worlds!
All are welcome to submit a proposal for a 10-minute mini-presentation, with special consideration to San José State University, School of Information students, faculty, and alumni.
Please send proposals to VCARA Faculty Advisors Dr. Lisa Daulby (lisa.daulby@sjsu.edu) and Dr. Pat Franks (patricia.franks@sjsu.edu - on sabbatical through December 2017) by March 31, 2018.
