Welcome to the SJSU SLIS Center for Information Research and Innovation (CIRI). As our activities at CIRI get underway, we wanted to invite the professional and scholarly community to join us in our research endeavors. We are eager to hear from you, and hope that you’ll consider partnering with us on future projects. We also encourage you to explore the CIRI website and check back with us frequently to learn about our latest research findings and activities.

CIRI projects involve research by scholars and students on a broad range of topics – digital records and curation, information access and use, LIS online learning, new literacies and learning, management and leadership, social dynamics of information, and technological innovation and change. CIRI’s work is guided by an international advisory board of leading researchers from the academy, government, and industry.

In addition, CIRI offers a place to generate ideas for future research, innovation, and partnership opportunities. We invite you to share your ideas with us by visiting our Open Lab. CIRI also showcases innovative practice and projects by students and faculty.

Like the fully online SJSU School of Library and Information Science, we are thrilled to launch CIRI as a fully online research center. Our virtual approach to research collaboration means that wherever you are located around the world, you can participate in CIRI research projects and activities.

One great global opportunity is coming up soon, when the worldwide Library and Information Science community will join together to discuss innovations in our field. The Library 2.012 virtual conference will take place on October 3-5, 2012. It is a free event. This year’s conference strands were recently announced. Watch for more news coming soon with a call for presenters, or visit last year’s conference page to view recorded presentations.

We’ll be posting regular updates about our research projects and activities on this blog, and we invite you to join in the discussion by leaving your comments and suggestions.
