David Lopez (he/him/él) has over 17 years experience working in public, academic, and school libraries. David is the current President of REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-speaking and has served on council for the American Library Association. He is also past-president of the OC Chapter of REFORMA and served the organization as a public information officer for several years. He is currently Regional Services Manager at OC Public Libraries, but previously worked with the system as their Public Information Officer and Marketing & Communications Manager.

Through these efforts David has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally on topics surrounding public librarianship, cultural competency, and libraries at the helm of global change. In 2018 David was named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker for his community-building and was a recipient of the I Love My Librarian Award from the New York Times/Carnegie Corporation of New York in 2014. He was previously named one of Orange County’s Most Influential People by the Orange County Register and OC Weekly. David has worked with community organizations for over a decade, volunteering, teaching, and fundraising for community efforts focusing on literacy and Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
