Sadia R. Khan

Sadia R. Khan is a Deaf Pakistani American and has been working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services for 14 years.

She has a B.S. in Rehabilitation Studies from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. She has served the Deaf/Hard of Hearing population in a variety of settings; worked as a Counselor Intern for the Disability Support Services in the community college, Deaf Domestic Violence Victim Advocate, Deaf Services Specialist for the Independence Living Center, and a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf for the State of Texas. She also has taught introductory ASL to the faith-based and local communities and has established the North Texas Deaf Operation Kindness organization, where she provides the coordination of community resources to meet the needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community during natural disasters or emergencies in the North Texas region. She was spotlighted by the Purple/ZVRS Communications for the National Volunteer Week recognition in 2021 after the Winter Storm that hit the entire Texas in February 2021 for the service that she and her team provided was to distribute the hundreds of water bottles to the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community in partnership with All Hands On.  She also has been involved with several Deaf organizations such as American Deafness and Rehabilitation Association-Missouri Chapter where she served as a Treasurer, Metro South Asian Deaf Association as a Committee, Peer Support, Advocate, and Volunteer to promote communication accessibility, equality, cultural awareness, greater inclusivity and representation within the Deaf community.

In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors with nature, traveling, reading, spending time with friends and family, going for a coffee shop hopping, and from time to time dream of a life where she can finally own a coffee shop. She loves good food, she is bit of a self-declared “foodie.”
