Three San José State University School of Information students and one alumni were recognized with awards and scholarships at CLA’s 111th Annual Conference in Pasadena. The recipients were given their awards at the Annual Awards Ceremony & Dessert Reception at the Pasadena Public Library.

Second-year iSchool student Sondhaya “Sunny” Sritongsook and another second-year iSchool student — who asked to remain anonymous — were presented with Edna Yelland scholarships. The Yelland scholarships are given in memory of Edna Yelland, CLA Executive Secretary from 1947-63. Each year, three are awarded to encourage ethic minority students who are enrolled in graduate-level, ALA-accredited LIS programs in California.

First-year student Nick Velkavrh was the winner of the CLA Reference Services Press Fellowship. One such fellowship is given each year to new LIS students, or college seniors/grads, who are studying to become reference/information-service librarians.

Finally, iSchool alumna Ida Z. daRoza was honored with the Technical Service Interest Group Award of Achievement. This award is given annually to one recipient who shows outstanding leadership in professional associations or contributions to the realm of technical services.

The full list of awards and recipients can be found on the CLA Website.
