Academic Support

Writing Support

The School of Information offers a variety of types of support for graduate-level writing. A writing tutor is available to iSchool students who would like review their work with a specialist. See the link below for details.

Other writing resources have been identified and are listed on the pages linked below. Note that strategic reading of academic material helps to build the foundation for effective writing. Look at the academic reading resources which are included.

A number of databases are available to students and faculty. Faculty may require use of specific databases in some classes. In general, you will have access to a large number of databases through the King Library throughout your student career. For databases not available through the library, you will need the current iSchool Restricted Materials username and password to access some resources. This log-in will be provided by your instructor and is updated each semester. The password is for the use of faculty and students only and should not be shared with anyone outside the program.

SJSU encourages students to complete their graduate degrees within three years. There is no requirement to do so, however, these tips can help MLIS and MARA students plan to complete the program within three years.
