How to Donate

Your donation to the San José State University School of Information will be used to fund scholarships and provide much-needed financial assistance for iSchool students. All gifts to the SJSU iSchool are tax-deductible (where applicable) and greatly appreciated!

We offer several options for making a contribution:

1. Give online using your credit card

2. Mail a check

3. Establish an endowment
Funds will be used to provide ongoing annual scholarship awards. For more information, please contact Dr. Linda Main at 408-924-2494 or send her an email. (Note: Endowments require $50,000 over five years.)

4. Other ways to give
We also invite you to consider other ways to give to our school, including deferred or planned gifts through bequests and contributions of real estate, appreciated stocks and securities, and retirement plan assets. For more information, see SJSU Giving.

SJSU iSchool Scholarships & Awards

When you donate to the iSchool, you may choose to have your gift go to any of the scholarships listed below, or simply contribute to the general fund. All gifts are greatly appreciated!

  • Alumni & Friends Scholarship
    The Alumni & Friends Scholarship recognizes graduate students enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Science or Master of Archives and Records Administration program at the iSchool who have displayed leadership abilities in the information field.
  • Blanche Woolls Spectrum Scholarship
    The Blanche Woolls Spectrum Scholarship, endowed in honor of Dr. Blanche Woolls, former iSchool professor and director from 1997-2005, supports the American Library Association’s Spectrum Scholarship program for librarians of color. Recipients must be Spectrum scholars enrolled at the iSchool.
  • Director’s Fund for Excellence
    The Director’s Fund for Excellence provides scholarship awards and other means of financial assistance to iSchool graduate students. For example, past recipients have received financial assistance to cover travel-related expenses and registration fees in order to attend professional association conferences.
  • Director’s Scholarship for Excellence
    The Director’s Scholarship for Excellence provides scholarships to new students during their first semester enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Science or Master of Archives and Records Administration degree program at the iSchool. This scholarship recognizes the potential of new students to serve as information professionals and take a leading role in shaping our profession.
  • Faculty Scholarship
    The Faculty Scholarship was established to support graduate students in their pursuit of an advanced degree. The recipients are chosen by the iSchool faculty.
  • General Donation
    General donations to the iSchool’s scholarship program are always appreciated. These funds are used to provide financial assistance to iSchool graduate students.
  • Global Impact Scholarship
    The Global Impact Scholarship provides scholarships to graduate students committed to making a positive impact on our global communities and organizations.
  • Graduate Student Scholarship
    The Graduate Student Scholarship was established to recognize graduate students who have demonstrated professionalism and exceptional promise through their course work in the master’s degree programs at the iSchool.
  • H.W. Wilson Scholarship
    The H.W. Wilson Scholarship, endowed by the H.W. Wilson Foundation, provides scholarships to graduate students who are pursuing a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science at the iSchool.
  • Kaiser Permanente Medical Library Scholarship
    The Kaiser Permanente Medical Librarianship Scholarship, endowed by Kaiser Permanente, benefits graduate students who are interested in a career in the fields of medical librarianship and health informatics.
  • Leppe Scholarship
    This scholarship was endowed in honor of Louis C. Leppe, a southern California pharmacist, whose daughters were both graduates of San José State University.
  • Librarian Opportunity Scholarship
    The Librarian Opportunity Scholarship, endowed by Diana Lee Morabito and Keith Ball, was established in recognition of the positive impact libraries had on their lives and education.
  • Research Fund
    The Research Fund provides much-needed financial assistance to iSchool faculty members and graduate students for their research projects. For example, the funds may support research presentations at high-profile conferences or cover costs to produce a survey.
  • Terry Crowley Scholarship
    The Terry Crowley Scholarship was endowed in honor of Dr. Terry Crowley, who was a former iSchool professor specializing in reference and information services.
  • Ken Haycock Award
    In addition to scholarships, the iSchool awards a stipend to a graduating student who, in the opinion of the faculty, exhibits the most exceptional professional promise for leadership. The recipient of the Ken Haycock Award, endowed by Dr. Ken Haycock, former professor and director at the iSchool from 2005-2010, serves as the student speaker during the iSchool’s convocation ceremony.
