ISDA Students Put Data Analytics into Action
Students in SJSU’s Information Science and Data Analytics program are demonstrating how data can be transformed into insights about real-world problems.
Several ISDA projects were selected for the 2026 SJSU School of Information Student Showcase, which highlights exemplary student work from across the School.
In Big Data Analytics and Management, Grace Lu, Khyle Marcos, and Thomas Tran explored the risk factors associated with diabetes, while Jesse Olufade developed a predictive analysis of data-center hard-drive failures. Gabriel Allen and Nikhil Garg used global coffee sales data to demonstrate approaches to analyzing and interpreting complex datasets.
Students also put information visualization skills to work. In Information Visualization, Peter Woolery examined the dynamics of the second-hand bicycle market, demonstrating how effective visualization can help audiences identify patterns and understand data.
Together, the projects illustrate the range of problems information science and data analytics students can tackle—from health and technology infrastructure to consumer markets.
They also demonstrate a larger goal of the ISDA program: helping students move beyond simply working with data to asking meaningful questions, communicating findings, and using information to support better understanding and decision-making.
Congratulations to our ISDA students whose work was selected for the 2026 Showcase!
