Select Box: Add Answer Choices and Modification

Once you have created your Select Box question, you can now add, as well as modify, delete and re-order the answer choices associated with it.

Access Edit Questions Interface

In the Survey Editor, select your survey in the Select Survey drop down menu under the Choose a Survey portion of the interface. Then, click the Edit Questions button:

You will then receive the Edit Questions interface.

Click on the Select Box question listed in the Questions list and from there click the Edit button:

Your question will then appear in the bottom portion of the page in the Add/Modify a Question section. From here, you can add, modify, delete, or change the order of your questions’ answers.

Add Answers

In the Add/Modify a Question portion of the interface, use the text field below the Answer Choices box to enter the text of your answers:

Selectable?
You will see an option for Selectable? (To the bottom right in the above image). This allows you to set a an answer choice as either selectable or unselectable. For example, when the user takes the survey, if they choose an answer choice that is not marked Selectable, they will then be required to switch their answer choice to one that is enabled as Selectable.

Selected?
When adding an answer, you will have the option of making it a pre-selected choice for the user taking the survey. This option appears a checkbox next to the word Selected?(To the bottom right in the above image). If you check that field, the answer will already be selected or checked when the user takes the survey. In this way, you can provide default answers or choose which answer you wish to have selected by default.

Click Add Answer Button
When you have finished typing your answer in the text field, click the Add Answer button.

Add Answer with Textfield
If you wish to have a text input field associated with the answer choice you are adding, you can add an answer with a text field.

Similar to the above example, use the text field below the Answer Choicesbox to enter the text of your answer with a text field. Then, click on the Add with Textfield button:

The user of the survey will then have the option of filling in a custom text response when that specific answer is selected:

Click the Modify Question button

Click the Modify Question button to add your answers to the Select Box question:

You will then receive a notification that your question has been successfully modified.

To preview your question, click on the question in the Questions list and click the Preview button below the Questions box:

Your Select Box question will then open in a separate browser window:

Modify Answers

To modify one of your answer choices, click on the answer choice that needs to be modified in the Answer Choices box. Upon clicking on it, it will appear in the text field beneath the Answer Choices box:

Enter the revised text into the text field and click the Modify button:

Upon clicking the Modify button, your revised answer will then appear in the Answer Choices box.

Click the Modify Question button

When you are finished modifying your answer choices, click the Modify Question to save your changes:

Delete Answers

To delete one of your answer choices, simply click on the answer choice that needs to be modified in the Answer Choices box. Upon clicking on it, it will appear in the text field beneath the Answer Choices box.

Then, click on the Delete button beneath the text field.

Click the Modify Question button

Click the Modify Question to save your answer deletion.

Change Order of Answers

You can change the order in which the answers will appear.

First, click on the answer you wish to move in the Answer Choices box. Then, click on the arrow (in the right hand portion of the image below) pointing in the direction you wish to move the answer.

For this example, we will move the highlighted answer up.

Click the Modify Question button

When you are satisfied with the question order, click the Modify Question button.

Your new answer order will then be saved:
