What I am doing now.

My district cut the media program and then reinstated it. I decide to take a break after 14 years of being a teacher librarian.

I was a middle school librarian for 2 years; K-5 for 13.

I now teach Elementary School science to Grades TK-5. I still have cataloging, database, and webpage design skills. I love teaching Internet Safety and email to kids. I have worked as a part-time reference and children’s librarian, medical librarian, cataloger, circulation assistant at both a university library and a college of dental medicine, and I even did an internship at the Martha H. Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies. I am a Lifetime Girl Scout member and Gold and Silver Award winner.

I am a CLA Multi-Ethnic scholarship recipient. I am Metis - of European and Delaware Indian ancestry. I have a big interest in American Indian legends and culture.

I am currently working part-time as a children’s and reference librarian at the San Leandro Public library. I also work part-time at Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences. I am taking continuing education classes in the library tech program at Cuesta College.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

Basic HTML with Dr. Linda Main is a must. I still use those skills. Cataloging. Resources for ages 6-12 and Young Adults, and Services to Racially and Ethnically Diverse Populations were some of my favorite classes. Do as many internships as you can - I have experience in the computer lab, Adobe Systems, Los Gatos Medical Resource Facility, and the Martha H. Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies.
