Librarian II
San Diego Public Library
San Diego, CA USA
What I am doing now.
I am a substitute librarian with San Diego Public Library. My current assignment is as a youth services librarian at Mira Mesa branch where I plan programming, do story times, and handle publicity and community outreach. I’m currently working to get our branch ready for the summer reading program.
What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?
Everything I learned at SJSU is coming in handy, plus a few skills from my previous occupations as reporter, free-lance writer, and college professor. Not to mention my stint as a Girl Scout leader (which got me used to singing in front of a group).
The skills I find myself using the most often are collection development, juvenile materials, and reference.
