What I am doing now.

I teach undergraduate online information literacy courses at Harrison College. It is truly a rewarding experience to help students develop information literacy skills which promote lifelong learning.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

Continuous communication with my colleagues and students is essential because of the online environment.  Pedagogical theory, best practices for online teaching strategies, and broad knowledge of information sources ensures successful learning outcomes. My courses at SJSU SLIS embedded library principles with current practice. Brent Robert’s Interpersonal Communication Skills for Librarians and Ann Riedling’s Design and Implementation of Instructional Strategies for Information Professionals are two courses that I would like to highlight in regards to my new position. However, the curriculum at SLIS prepares me to assume different roles in the field of library science.  I look forward to seeing all the places that my degree will lead me. Thank you San Jose SLIS!
