Adult Services Librarian
Monrovia Public Library
Monrovia, CA USA
What I am doing now.
I will begin this position on October 21, 2013. I will be the Adult Services Librarian at the Monrovia Public Library. I will assist patrons at the reference desk, I will be in charge of adult programming, will order, select and catalog materials, outreach activities, train and supervise library volunteers, and I will be in charge of the library’s career center.
What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?
I have been working in libraries since I was an undergraduate student at UCR. I have learned a lot through the years of experience as a student assistant, library assistant, in SJSU SLIS and finally as a librarian. A combination of my experience and my education has given me the necessary skills to be successful in my job. Research skills are very important in any librarian position. I am also bilingual in Spanish and that is a very useful, and very often utilized skill, in Southern California.
