What I am doing now.

I currently hold the position of Library Director, with the rank of assistant professor at Schreiner University. In terms of service, I have served as the Honors Director, a member of the Institutional Review Board and Academic Affairs. Recently, I started my first term on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission Card Working Group, which reviews policies and procedures for the card program and provides input from member libraries. I also recently completed the Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians at Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

I would have to say my technical abilities are my most valuable asset, combined with my ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. I elected to take a more technical track through the SLIS program which enabled me get a foot in the door in both my L294 internship and my first professional library position.  Some seasoned librarians are now saying that with CMS there is no longer a need to learn how to code (HTML, CSS, etc.), but I can tell you that outside of major urban centers, librarians with tech skills are in dire need.
