What I am doing now.

I work at a small liberal arts college, and so I am able to enjoy a variety of responsibilities.  Instructional Services: Teaching several sections of an Information Literacy course, providing discipline-specific instructional sessions, writing and updating resource guides, faculty outreach, reference services, and one-on-one research consultations, new student library orientation. Archives: Preservation, arrangement, and organization of documents and photos. Serving on the document retention committee, and grant writing.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

Learning to work well in teams!  Although many students (myself included) gave an inward shudder at the mention of team work, I learned so much about setting clear expectations, taking time up-front to define responsibilities, and basic follow-through. Best of all, I made some great friends and we have stayed in touch! Every aspect of my job involves some form of playing-well-with-others: good librarianship is not a solo operation.
