S5 – Search Activity (Finding Facts)
Karen Quest, 2022 Showcase
Search Activity - Finding Facts: The assignment instructions directed students to look at ready reference resources and conduct search activities. The project addresses six questions with multiple tasks and demonstrates that the lines between traditional reference tools and other sources of reliable information are becoming increasingly blurred.
Karen Quest started the MLIS program at SJSU in January 2020, the same month she started Medicare. She is the owner of Giddyup Productions, whose slogan is “We’re In The Happiness Business,” specializing in family entertainment at state and county fairs, festivals, or wherever families gather. In 2011, she showcased her one-woman Western comedy show, Cowgirl Tricks, for the Association of Children’s Librarians of Northern California. She began a new love affair with libraries and Children’s and Youth Services Librarians; the professionals who hired her inspired her to apply for grad school. After a 35-year gap between earning a degree in Theatre from California State University Northridge, she was accepted! Slated to graduate in December 2022, Karen is grateful to all her professors, who guided and encouraged her through the oft-turbulent waters and demands of higher education. She looks forward to blazing new trails as a bonafide librarian.
