Academic Libraries: How Cultural Intelligence Makes a Difference?
Faculty Presentation
Dr. Villagran is the College & Research Luncheon keynote speaker
at the 2019 Pennsylvania Library Association annual conference.
Her talk will address her research with cultural intelligence and
academic libraries.
It is not enough to simply be ‘aware’ anymore. We must go beyond
our own self-awareness and awareness of others to understand the
impacts of how we work and interact effectively in culturally
diverse situations, whether domestic or global. As our workforces
become more diverse and our students and faculty we serve are
more diverse, we face an even greater challenge and problem: that
is how to successfully manage increasingly diverse interactions.
To address this concern, organizations are applying the framework
of cultural intelligence. Dr. Villagran is looking forward to
sharing this framework with you and its application within the
academic sector.
