Artificial Intelligence and Implicit Bias
Faculty Presentation

Faculty Conference Presentation

Dr. Michele A. L. Villagran will serve as a panelist speaker on “Artificial Intelligence and Implicit Bias” at the American Association of Law Libraries annual conference on July 16, 2019 at 8:30am Eastern Time in Washington, DC (https://www.aallnet.org/conference/).

Algorithms and taxonomies are ultimately created by human beings with our own prejudices and stereotypes. Your black box and/or other new AI technologies could be replicating (even aggravating?) the same issues when it comes to discrimination of information regarding specific groups or just ignoring highly important data crucial to a case. This panel will include law librarians and AI vendors working on how to incorporate the idea of implicit bias in the tech world.

Presenter: Dr. Michelle A. L. Villagran
Date: Tuesday, July 16, 2019
Time: 8:30 – 9:20 a.m. (Eastern Time)
Location: Walter E. Washington Convention Center 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW, Washington, DC
