From Awareness to Action: Applying Cultural Competence in Library and Information Science Research and Practice
Faculty Presentation
Dr Villagran presents her sabbatical research at the XXVIII
International Congress of the International Association for
Cross-Cultural Psychology in 2026.
The session highlights findings from 2025 with library
professionals and previews findings from collaborations with
cultural experts in 2026, offering practical guidance for
researchers seeking to implement culturally competent principles
across disciplines. Ultimately, this work seeks to bridge
cultural competence research with cross-cultural psychology’s
ongoing efforts to develop inclusive, contextually grounded, and
ethically responsible methodologies. By equipping researchers
with tools and frameworks for self-awareness and culturally
responsive engagement, CCRLIS contributes to a more equitable and
culturally intelligent research landscape.
