The panelists will discuss how information literacy aligns with the characteristics commonly identified with disciplines. They will describe how they believe the recognition that it is a discipline will further outcomes for information literacy instruction and research in the contexts in which they work. The session will conclude with an open discussion in which attendees will have the opportunity to share how recognizing information literacy as a discipline might affect their work at their institutions.
