Emotional Intelligence and Cultural Values for Oregon Libraries
Faculty Presentation
Oregon library staff are facing growing emotional demands—rising workloads, budget cuts, and increased interactions with vulnerable populations are pushing many toward burnout. This program invites those working in libraries in Oregon to explore how examining their own emotional intelligence can foster resilience, self-regulation, and a renewed sense of purpose. We will connect emotional intelligence skills—such as self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation—to the cultural values that shape how we present ourselves in our work and within our communities. This program provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and leave with practical tools for developing emotional strength and culturally responsive practice in challenging times. Let’s take this time to reflect, connect, and leave with practical tools for emotional well-being and culturally responsive practice.
