Faculty Conference Presentation

Dr. Michele A. L. Villagran will moderate “Working with Communities to Support Students and Alumni interested in working with Latinx and Spanish-speaking: Reflections from Student Leaders.” REFORMA SJSU iSchool student leaders, Rosa Rodriguez, Alessandra Gonzalez, and Renee Torres will present. This program will focus on the stories and experiences of student leaders when creating a student group during a global pandemic. The REFORMA San José State University (SJSU) Student & Alumni group developed partly in response to address cultural gaps in LIS education, offering a dedicated space for members to apply skill sets and share knowledge to support Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities. Examples shared in the program highlight this goal including the group’s community programming, networking efforts, and collaborative partnerships.
