Pride Month 2024
Published: July 8, 2024 by Matsuko Friedland
Please join the SJSU iSchool as we celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and more (LGBTQIA+) librarians and librarianship. This month’s symposium will feature a diverse array of panelists, who bring their expertise in various aspects of the LIS field.
In 1999, the United States officially designated June as Pride month, after years of protests, riots, and movements demanding equality for LGBTQIA+ folks. While Pride month today is seen as a celebration of affirmation, equity, and visibility, it is also important to continue advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights and creating space for our underserved community members.
