15 Scholarships with Approaching Deadlines

If January means the start of the spring semester, then February and March mean scholarship deadlines. As we approach the commencement of classes on Thursday, now is the perfect time for students to prepare their scholarship applications. The following list of scholarships offered by regional professional associations is a good start:
Society of American Archivists (SAA)
- F. Gerald Ham and Elsie Ham Scholarship – $10,000 award and complimentary registration to the SAA Annual Meeting, deadline February 28th
- Mosaic Scholarship – $5,000 award, complimentary registration to the SAA Annual Meeting, one-year membership to SAA, designated for minority students, deadline February 28th
- Josephine Forman Scholarship – $10,000 award, complimentary registration to the SAA Annual Meeting, complimentary funding to attend the annual meeting of the General Commission on Archives and History, designated for minority students, deadline February 28th
- Donald Peterson Student Travel Award - Up to $1,000 in support of registration, travel, and accommodation expenses associated with the SAA Annual Meeting, deadline February 28th
- Harold T. Pinkett Minority Student Award – Full complimentary registration and related expenses for hotel and travel to the SAA Annual Meeting, designated for minority students, deadline February 28th
- Oliver Wendell Homes Travel Award - $1,000 in support of registration, travel, and accommodation expenses associated with the SAA Annual Meeting, designated for international students, deadline February 28th
Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA)
- Graduate Scholarship Program – $3,000 award toward tuition, deadline July 31st
- RIM Education Reimbursement – $750 reimbursement award for RIM related education
- RIM Certification/Certificate Reimbursement Scholarship – $500 reimbursement award for RIM certification
Society of Southwest Archivists
- John Michael Caldwell Student Scholarship - Registration to the Society of Southwest Archivists’ annual meeting and up to $600 in support of travel, deadline February 21st
- David B. Gacy II Student Scholarship – $600 in support of tuition, fees, and other expenses, deadline February 21st
Midwest Archives Conference (MAC)
- Louisa Bowen Memorial Scholarship for Graduate Students in Archival Administration - $750 award and one-year membership to MAC, deadline March 1st
- Archie Motley Memorial Scholarship for Minority Students – $750 award and one-year membership to MAC, deadline March 1st
- MAC Emeritus Scholarship for First-Time Meeting Attendees – $500 or $250 award to support travel and conference expenses for a first-time attendee, deadline February 1st
Northwest Archivists (NWA)
- NWA At Large Student Scholarship – $500 in support of research projects, unpaid internships, conference/workshop attendance, and other educational expenses, deadline March 1st
Many of these scholarships require membership in the awarding organization, but student memberships are typically offered at reduced rates.
