Application deadline: June 17, 2024

Sharing an opportunity for archivists and digital preservation professionals in low-resource environments:
The Digital POWRR team invites applications for the fourth of five upcoming in-person, 2.5 day digital preservation training institutes. The fourth Institute will be held October 16-18th at the Thomas Hale Hamilton Library on the campus of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Due to the generosity of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Digital POWRR Institutes have no registration fees, and travel stipends are available for those with financial needs.
Although anyone is eligible to apply, the institute especially invites and welcomes applications from residents of Hawai’i and the U.S. Pacific Territories.
An ideal candidate for a POWRR institute fits some of these descriptions:
• Someone who works directly with collections, including digital materials
• Someone who has been exposed to basic digital preservation concepts, but struggles with moving from theory to practice
• Someone starting up a digital preservation program
• Someone who represents or serves historically underrepresented populations
• Someone employed by an institution unable to provide professional development funding adequate to attend other digital preservation training opportunities
• Someone who would benefit from being a part of a small cohort of professionals like themselves, and who will put forth effort into sustaining these professional connections after the end of the Institute
Application deadline: June 17, 2024
Applicants will be notified of application status by July 22,
2024
