The Society of California Archivists (SCA) is now accepting applications for the James V. Mink Scholarship!
Applications will be accepted through January 27, 2025.

The Mission:
The Mink Scholarship provides financial support for an archival studies student or recent graduate to attend the 2025 SCA Annual General Meeting (AGM), plus a pre-conference workshop. James V. Mink was the first president of the Society of California Archivists, and a long-serving archivist at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was a passionate advocate of archival education.
The Scholarship:
The scholarship of $1,500 covers conference and workshop registration, and assists with any travel, lodging, and food expenses; the post-registration balance will be awarded as a check. The recipient will be recognized and introduced at an Awards Ceremony during the AGM. 2025’s AGM will be held from April 2-4 in North Hollywood, CA (https://www.calarchivists.org/2025-AGM).
The Application Process:
All applicants must submit an application form, a resume or CV, and a letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the applicant’s goals in the archival profession.
Additionally, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Is enrolled in an archival education program in California OR is a student member of SCA enrolled in an archival education program outside the state
- Has completed an archival education program in California, is a member of SCA, and has less than one year of archival work experience
Scholarship recipients are required to write a brief article for the SCA Newsletter following the AGM, introducing themselves and describing their conference experience.
