The Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation recently announced that Erica Krimmel, a graduate student in the exclusively online Master of Library and Information Science program at the San José State University School of Library and Information Science, is a 2013 Switzer Environmental Fellow. The Switzer Environmental Fellowship recognizes the achievements of environmental leaders and their potential to drive positive change. Krimmel is one of 22 fellowship recipients.

“The 2013 Switzer Environmental Fellows are at the cutting edge of science and policy and will be supported with funding, professional coaching and a network of leaders to help them achieve results. Their problem-solving abilities and innovation will make a difference,” said Lissa Widoff, executive director of the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation.

Krimmel’s $15,000 fellowship will help her complete her Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science at the SJSU information school. Her graduate studies in information science add applicable technical skills and theory knowledge to her undergraduate background in environmental studies.

The Switzer Foundation Fellowships are merit-based and rigorously competitive. Candidates must be recognized for their leadership capacity by their academic institution or by environmental experts.
