Sara ScribnerSan José State University School of Information student Sara Scribner speaks out for school libraries in a recently published Los Angeles Times opinion piece. The Pasadena Unified School District, where Scribner is a school librarian, is in danger of losing its libraries in the current budget crunch. According to Scribner, “In a time when information literacy is increasingly crucial to life and work, not teaching kids how to search for information is like sending them out into the world without knowing how to read.”

Scribner also discussed the issue as a guest in a recent episode of talk radio show “To the Point.” You can download the episode or stream it from the KCRW station website.
