What I am doing now.
In my role as a Student Success Librarian, my primary focus is supporting our first year, first generation, and the transfer students through outreach projects to raise their library awareness. I am the subject librarian for Ethnic Studies and Women and Gender Studies. As a subject librarian, I provide research assistance to students in my disciplines, offer library instruction to classes, and focus on collection development for my departments. Also, I support our Critical Thinking and Writing courses and provide instruction for those courses too. In addition, I provide reference assistance through the online chat service, participate on committees and library workgroups.
What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?
The most valuable skills I use in my job are: good verbal communication, active listening, information research skills, teaching, organization, and critical thinking.
