What I am doing now.

I got hired as youth services librarian when I was halfway through the MLIS program. I plan, implement and present year round youth programming such as story times, Lego club and craft events and manage our teen volunteer program. I apply to grants, do outreach at local schools, do school tours of the library and much more. I bring in community partners to create dynamic youth programs such as Mexican Folkloric Dancing for Hispanic Heritage Month and bringing Clifford to visit the library through a partnership with PBS.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

Marketing, my emerging Spanish language skills. and knowledge of developmental stages of children so I can be an effective storyteller.
