Adult Services Librarian
Montrose Regional Library District
What I am doing now.
I am employed full time as an Adult Services Librarian at the Montrose Regional Library. I dabble in a little bit of everything from programming to reader’s advisory/reference to collection management. My main responsibilities are running our increasingly popular adult book club, managing the library’s local history archive, providing excellent customer service at the reference desk, developing a Library of Things, and being a founding member of our library’s DEI committee (I was part of a panel who developed our library’s DEI statement).
What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?
Collection development, reference services, digital preservation skills, emerging technology knowledge, solid customer service skills and the ability to multi-task. I was shocked to see several of the textbooks used in various SJSU MLIS courses on the shelves in our professional development collection in my department.
