The March conference was held March 25 and 26, 2021, and brought the long-running bilingual (Spanish and English) Seguimos Creando Enlaces (Creating Connections) conference online. This event fosters community connections and cultural diversity in public, academic and special libraries,” said Steve Hargadon, who co-founded the Library 2.0 Worldwide Virtual Conference series with Dr. Sandra Hirsh in 2011, as a way to facilitate topical discussions among information professionals worldwide. “In past years the event has welcomed library workers from both sides of the California-Mexico border to share best practices and work towards more inclusive library spaces for all.”

Seguimos Creando Enlaces 2021 was presented by the Southern California Library Cooperative in partnership with the SERRA Library Cooperative, California State Library, Library 2.0 Worldwide Virtual Conference Series, and the School of Information at San José State University. This conference was supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

On June 17, 2021, the second of three Library 2.021 web conferences was held. The presentations addressed the challenges faced by librarians during the COVID-19 pandemic as they worked to bring their services, resources, and events into the virtual realm. They not only met these challenges but thrived in bringing dynamic digital content and engaging virtual programming and instructional events, such as virtual book clubs, gaming tournaments, and even makerspace activities to their patrons. Learn about some of the ways librarians have adapted and evolved their service offerings for a post-COVID world. Sessions were recorded. Please visit the Library 2.0 conference website for more information.

This event was organized in partnership with Ellyssa Kroski, the director of information technology and marketing at the New York Law Institute, as well as an award-winning editor and author of 60 books.

Library 2.021: Libraries as Community Anchors – Recordings Available

The third and last mini-conference for 2021 was held on October 21, 2021, and explored the theme of Libraries as Community Anchors, meaning they provide essential services including universal computer and Internet access to the public during large-scale events like pandemics and natural disasters. Libraries increasingly have an important role to play as second responders, working to develop strategies to bridge technological digital divides and to promote digital access, equity, opportunity, and inclusion. Sessions were recorded. Please visit the Library 2.0 conference website for more information.

This event was organized in partnership with Don Means, director of the Gigibit Libraries Network, and Kristen Radsliff Rebmann, professor at the School of Information at San José State University.
