The California Native Plant Community’s Use of Emerging Technologies

The California Native Plant Community’s Use of Emerging Technologies: I present artifacts that describe how the California Native Plant Community uses technology to advance and share their information. For the first artifact, I created an infographic that describes several types of technologies flexed by the community. A second artifact is embedded in the infographic, which is a quick video on how to use Calscape’s interactive Garden Planner program.

Karin Olmedo: “I have an MA in Anthropology, with an emphasis in archaeology, from Cal State Fullerton, and I have worked as an archaeologist in the private sector for the past 15 years. I am passionate about archiving and storing history and precontact data in excellence, but over the years I have become aware that the current system for storing and tracking this kind of information is lacking. I am pursuing my MLIS from SJSU to shift my focus from field work and documentation to studying best practices for capturing history. I am looking forward to interacting with others who are as passionate about archiving and sharing the knowledge of the past, present, and the future.”
