THE CHEROKEE NATION: A story of RESILIENCE and PERSEVERANCE through adversity to regrow a Nation of Great People: This presentation not only brings together major topics, themes and concepts from the INFO-281 class, but introduces additional resources to the potential learners. The presentation depicts the resiliency and perseverance of an indigenous cultural who despite losing everything rebuilt themselves into a strong nation today. It reveals what they lost and what they had to overcome to become the great nation they are today. The presentation was created on an interactive platform; therefore, the photos, videos, and buttons are clickable.
Mary Ann McCoy is from the South Bay Area in Southern California. She graduated with a B.S. Degree in English from Northern Michigan University. Then, she earned a Single Subject Teaching Credential from CSUDH, and she has taught English for the past 18 years. She decided that she wanted to take her love for literature and reading in a different direction. It was time for a career change; therefore, she applied to the MLIS program at SJSU to earn a Teacher Librarian Credential and a Master’s Degree. Here begins her new journey.
A little bit more about her: She is widowed with one daughter, one son, and two stepsons. She enjoys baking, photography, writing, reading, and traveling. Currently, she is working on a couple of writing projects. In addition, she enjoys researching and uncovering the mysteries of our past which has lead her into researching her family’s ancestry. Also, she supports saving the environment and endangered animals because she believes they are important to our delicate ecosystem.
Finally, she is excited to start this new journey and to meet like-minded people on the same journey. She wishes you all the best on your new adventure as well.
