Chinese American Youth in San Francisco Chinatown
Alva Fong, 2025 Showcase
Chinese American Youth in San Francisco Chinatown: This project is dedicated to the small population of Chinese American youth in San Francisco Chinatown. It will assist bilingual librarians and offer tools, resources, and advice for creating a strong community through culturally relevant library programming, bilingual resources, a diverse multilingual collection, and friendly outreach to create a safe, welcoming third space.
Alva Fong: “It’s an honor to be selected for the 2025 Exemplary Student Showcase. I love historical research and writing as much as creating children’s programming. I’m eager to see where my MLIS degree takes me. Many thanks to Professor Lisa Houde for her guidance and encouragement on this project. I want to give a special thanks to my rescue mutts, Zero and Waffles, who have accompanied me through every step of this program.”
