Cross Cultural Mentorship & Communication

Cross Cultural Mentorship & Communication: This project addresses the topic of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). It seeks to answer these questions: What is cross cultural communication and mentorship? What are existing key challenges? What are the divergent viewpoints and lived experiences? What are strategies and skills for mentors? This project outlines the importance of creating mentorships that support the unique needs and experiences of BIPOC librarians. Resources for mentorship programs are also explored. View the presentation.

Mavey Ma

Mavey Ma: “Hello everyone! I host weekly Focus Session / Momentum Buddy for neurodivergent iSchool peers over Zoom. This casual meeting is also known as body doubling (https://chadd.org/adhd-news/adhd-news-adults/could-a-body-double-help-you-increase-your-productivity/) , side-by-side time, or co-working. We can encourage each other virtually (Zoom) or in person (SJSU, tea shop, library). Say hi to me via Google Chat mavey.ma@sjsu.edu or LinkedIn! My undergraduate degree is a Computer Science B.S. My interests include public library, youth services, leadership and management, disability, and the neurodivergent community.”

Lauryn Framke is an emerging informational professional who plans to work with archiving and preserving Indigenous Heritage Language materials upon graduation from SJSU iSchool.
